Abstract

LiRIC is an inversion procedure frequently used in the EARLINET network that is able to obtain vertical
aerosol concentration profiles, using measurements from two instruments: Lidar and sun photometer. In this
paper, we propose a reimplementation of that algorithm in the free language Python. We also did some
synthetic scenarios studies which shows the robustness and the proper functioning of the tool. Finally,
we proceeded with a study in a real case scenario, under a registered event of biomass burning in the
monitoring station of Villa Martelli.
