Abstract

This work presents the results of visible light refractive index (IRV) of petrodiesel-biodiesel blends, including the Argentine commercial blend. Measurements were carried out according to the ASTM D1218/12 standard. Lab prepared samples with 10% biodiesel and 90% petrodiesel, called B10, and also commercial samples have been measured from 288,15K to 328,15K. The  IRV  of all the samples decreases linearly with temperature. On the other hand, series of biodiesel with two different types of diesel blends were  prepared in the full range of compositions and their IRV at 313,15K was measured. It was found that their IRV decreases linearly with increasing biodiesel content. The experimental data were successfully adjusted by linear models. The determination coefficients for all cases were greater than 0,99.
